About the Centre

We are a Not for Profit Community Childcare Centre located in Deer Park.  We run early learning programs including Kindergarten and Long Day Care.

Philosophy

Deer Park Children’s Community Centre believes that all children are individuals, equals, and learn through play. Our centre is based totally around family and the extension of that family.

Our centre endeavours to provide a secure and caring environment for children, which supports personal growth and motivates continuous development, whilst ensuring that there is a friendly and open atmosphere, which encourages mutual respect, co-operation and support between children, their families and staff.

We believe children’s development and learning skills are important. We provide children with a fair and positive environment as we encourage all children to reach their potential by setting high expectations.

Our centre endeavours to provide a play based program which allows children to explore and experience the natural environment and is suitable to each child’s development level, needs and interests whilst building on the National Framework of Becoming, Being and Belonging.

The programs are child-centred and play based, with minimal structured learning and a wide variety of activities for the children to choose from, whilst developing a love of learning. The role of the staff is to provide the resources and skills training to support the children’s choices whilst under safe supervision.

Our centre practices cultural diversity. We respect all cultures and differences and activities are planned around children’s interests and their families throughout the year.

Staff at Deer Park Children’s Community Centre work to form an effective partnership with families through open dialogue, genuine trust and understanding. Our centre is committed to working towards shared goals in relation to children.

Our centre believes in a non-gender bias, that all children can play and explore activities and experiences freely.
