At Kellie O’Connell Kindergarten we aim to provide a holistic and high quality program that caters for children’s interests, needs and skills both individually and as a group, within a safe, supportive an secure environment. We endeavor to support the children and their families in having a happy and enjoyable kindergarten experience.
We actively encourage parents, grandparents and carers to be a part of our kindergarten environment and program. We aim to provide an environment that is inclusive, that celebrates and builds on the diverse cultural backgrounds, languages, abilities and special needs of all children, their families and staff.
Our programs are based on our observations of children and our understanding of the National and Victorian Early Years Learning Frameworks (EYLF), as well as through discussions with parents and our community. We believe that learning through play allows children to explore, communicate, observe, reflect, create, collaborate, co-operate, problem solve and imagine.
Children are encouraged and supported to develop and exercise both independence, decision making and to initiate play ideas in their own time. Educators also guide children’s learning by providing many opportunities for the children to build upon their skills, relationships and knowledge.
In our program we embrace and encourage understanding and respect for both our indoor and outdoor environments. By including the children in pack up time, care of our pet rabbits and garden, the children are developing an increased awareness of responsibility and respect for their surroundings.
Staff work together to maintain and provide high quality service and show trust, respect and support each other. We have a strong commitment in our ongoing professional development to ensure the best possible access and ideas of Early Childhood learning.
