About the Centre
Orama Street Child Care Centre is currently registered to accommodate 93 children with 5 rooms. We offer full-time and part-time care for children aged 0-6 years old.
At Orama Street Child Care we create a welcoming and inclusive environment with a high quality curriculum for children and families. We demonstrate respect and support for families culture, values, philosophical and linguistic needs.
Our early childhood professionals foster children’s development by empowering them to develop their skills, knowledge and capabilities via our play based learning curriculum. We value any contributions from families, as we recognise that they are critically important in a child’s life.
We work in partnership to develop the whole child, setting term goals with families, developing children’s skills and interests. We have an online portal where all children’s learning is kept and updated regularly, this is a chance for families to see what their children have been learning at the centre. Our curriculums are up on display in our rooms for families to see and have input.
Our environment has a 3 outside play spaces for children to enjoy, we teach children about sustainability and provide an inside/outside program all day.
We collaborate with the outside local community, by inviting them into our environment and working alongside them. We value the unique diversity of this centre and commit to including everyone.
We are a proud SunSmart and Asthma friendly centre. We offer a healthy 4 week menu which has been approved by the Victorian Healthy Eating Advisory Service. We have nappies, pull ups, sunhats and sunscreen provided for every child.
Orama Street Child Care Centre has been caring for families and children in the community for over 30 years – during his time we have moved forward with the ever changing community.
We as a community based centre believe that ‘children learn best when they are healthy, safe and secure, when their individual needs are met and when they have positive relationships with the adults caring for them’.
We provide a fun, nurturing, stimulating environment by providing play based experiences following the Early Years Learning Framework focusing on children as a whole following the 5 principles – identity, community, wellbeing, learning and communication.
We achieve by encouraging the children’s individual interests, needs and abilities, learning styles and gender, regardless of ethnicity, including Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
We believe that children develop a sense of belonging when care is consistent, with familiar Educators providing warm and caring interactions on the children’s level for individuals and small groups.
We as a Centre work to form effective partnerships with families and the community through:
— Open and honest communication
— Genuine trust and understanding
— Providing support and resources for families
— A commitment to working towards shared goals in relation to the children.
