About the Centre
Orama Street Child Care Centre is currently registered to accommodate 93 children with 5 rooms. We offer full-time and part-time care for children aged 0-6 years old.
At Orama Street Child Care we create a welcoming and inclusive environment with a high quality curriculum for children and families. We demonstrate respect and support for families culture, values, philosophical and linguistic needs.
Our early childhood professionals foster children’s development by empowering them to develop their skills, knowledge and capabilities via our play based learning curriculum. We value any contributions from families, as we recognise that they are critically important in a child’s life.
We work in partnership to develop the whole child, setting term goals with families, developing children’s skills and interests. We have an online portal where all children’s learning is kept and updated regularly, this is a chance for families to see what their children have been learning at the centre. Our curriculums are up on display in our rooms for families to see and have input.
Our environment has a 3 outside play spaces for children to enjoy, we teach children about sustainability and provide an inside/outside program all day.
We collaborate with the outside local community, by inviting them into our environment and working alongside them. We value the unique diversity of this centre and commit to including everyone.
We are a proud SunSmart and Asthma friendly centre. We offer a healthy 4 week menu which has been approved by the Victorian Healthy Eating Advisory Service. We have nappies, pull ups, sunhats and sunscreen provided for every child.
We pride ourselves on meaningful, respectful interactions and building relationships with children.
We believe that the children’s opinions should be respected and supported. We place importance on allowing children to feel valued and heard.
We value a trusting partnership with families, that is built on honest communication.
We share our ideas, knowledge and experience with families by supporting them whenever they are in need.
We believe it is important to collaborate with families and encourage families to have input our curriculum.
We respect the rights of children and ensure we are providing an environment that is safe, secure and promotes equity.
We are dedicated to including educators, families and children from culturally diverse and linguistic backgrounds.
We acknowledge and show respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders by making them feel welcome in our centre. We strive to continue learning and developing our knowledge of their culture.
We ensure that our flexible routines are supportive of all children’s individual needs and we encourage children to play an important part in the decision-making process.
We strive to engage and challenge children within our curriculum, inspiring them to learn and grow with us.
We use the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development document to support our curriculum and use intentional teaching as a way to support children to continue to grow and develop.
We believe our environment plays an important role in children’s learning, we use permanent learning spaces, sustainability resources, the use of inside and outside to promote our natural environment as a third teacher.
