About the Centre

Phoenix Street Children’s Centre is a not for profit community based centre managed by BPA Children’s Services.

Having a broad multicultural family base, we have bilingual workers who are able to communicate with families in the following languages – Vietnamese, Arabic, Spanish and Maltese.  Children are exposed to Vietnamese and English on a daily basis via songs, music, dancing and reading stories.  We have a strong based parent committee that support the centre in planning events, organizing fundraisers and encouraging other families to be involved.

The educators at Phoenix Street Children’s Centre offer high quality care on a Full Time or Part Time basis.  We provide a nurturing environment where children feel safe, secure and supported.  We believe it is important to build a genuine connection with each child, having a holistic approach to children’s equality is what our educators strive to provide.  Our emerging curriculum using The Early Years Learning Framework creates an innovative early learning program for each child.

Sustainability is an important practice at our service, we are committed to being sustainable via our practices, knowledge and appreciation for the environment.

Centre Philosophy

We acknowledge and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, language and land.

We value the inclusion and equal rights of the children, their families and the educators as we all come from different cultural backgrounds and family make ups.

We strive to ensure children feel happy, safe, secure and supported in our environment at all times through strong reciprocal relationships.

We value and believe in family feedback, participation and collaboration as it builds on our curriculum.

Our children’s learning environment is seen as a third teacher, we provide open-ended experiences in both indoor and outdoor areas.

We provide a high quality curriculum that is based on the principles and practices of Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and Early Years Learning Framework that will allow children to flourish and to enrich their learning.

We ensure our routines and transitions are flexible and supportive for all children and families.

We love connecting with Mother Nature to have responsibility by encouraging and incorporating sustainable practices within our environment.

We value the inclusion of the local and broader community to create a world full of knowledge for the children.
