Centre Philosophy
Our kindergarten provides a quality play based program working within both the National and Victorian Early Years Learning Frameworks, offering opportunities for the children both indoors and outdoors.
The program is implemented in a play-based environment which will invite all children to experiment, challenge themselves, enjoy, develop relationships, grow together and build positive self-images. The program is developed through observations of all children, and is based on each child’s own individual developmental needs and skills.
We believe in creating a strong link between families and preschool, valuing family participation and contribution. The program is inclusive and sensitive to the needs of all children regardless of social or cultural background, gender and ability.
The preschool environment offers the children an opportunity to build on the skills they will require throughout their lives.
Our Mission Statement at St Aidan’s preschool, we believe:
Children strive in an environment where:
- Play is recognised and valued as a means of learning
- They are encouraged to develop positive relationships with adults and other children
- Their families are actively involved and their culture is reflected
- Adults support and extend children’s play to enhance learning
- There is a focus on languages, relationships and interactions
Families and Parents:
- Are actively involved in all aspects of the centre
- Help create the St Aidans community
- Are partners in their child’s education
- Expect effective and regular communication
Our Staff:
- Deserve to be valued for their varied experience and qualifications
- Continually learn and re-energise through planned learning, development and networking
- Are a team
- Are encouraged to be innovative and critically reflect on teaching practice
The community plays an integral role by:
- Creating links for families to other services
- Celebrating diversity in all its forms
- Developing and strengthening social networks
